Shopping down Main Street

Hello DH Crew from Safford, Arizona! We decided to take a walk up and down old historic Main Street in the heart of downtown. This awesome vintage car in the window caught our eye and inside was some really cool handmade keepsakes sure to appease anyone. This was a local family run and operated business. You can also see that the street still has a great deal of its old charm and look that many frequented in years past. If your ever in town, make sure you give Gingerbread and Co. a visit, you won’t regret it. Stay Dope!

Can you say Molcajete??

While visiting the southwest, we felt we couldn’t forget the American Indian’s influence on food and culture. It all started with a small bowl and grinding tool called the Molcajete, pronounced (Mole-ca-hetey). This little Native-American instrument has been around for years and its core purpose hasn’t changed a bit, some come in cool shapes and sizes. Originally for grinding herbs and corn, this natural stone does wonders in the kitchen. You can often see these used for making great guacamole recipes and is spot on for presentation.

The Book Store

Books have always been an easy “go-to” decorating tool. Take it to next with these cool floor to ceiling and wall to wall versions. These could be a total DIY project.

The Owls Have It

Reviewing pictures from our travels, we saw quite a few uber cool trends that are show up more and more in the marketplace. One that reared its head a few seasons ago and is still hotter than ever is the “OWL”

This cute and unconventional character has popped onto every decorator’s fashion radar. Designers at every price point are jumping on the bandwagon…from Garnet Hill’s “Night Owl” sateen sheet set (www.garnethill.com) to tiny knick knacks at Target (www.target.com) the owl is sure to bring about some cool conversations and peak some interests.

Furniture guru Geoffrey Warner launched an entire collection around the owl and its various characteristics. Known to add an interesting spin on otherwise “yawn inducing” objects, his interpretation of the traditional desk chair is ingeniously chic. He took ergonomics and turned it on its proverbial ASS.

Here at Dope Home we have the ultimate sweet tooth? Candy, especially sour stuff, cookies, chocolate, fro-yo… you name it. If its not a candy store then it’s an ice cream parlor or a doughnut spot. This time it was a cupcake shop. But not your run of the mill cupcake shop.

Baked by Melissa cupcakes have mastered the “idea” of portion control while letting you indulge a little. These bite sized pieces of heaven take the “mini” cupcake to the next level. Melissa’s cupcake is the size of a quarter and comes in a slew of flavors like Peanut Butter & Jelly, Oreo and Mint Chocolate Chip to name a few.

Just wanted to post a sneak peek into the latest project here at Dope Home; The DH Pillow Collection.
On June 1, 2013 you will be able to indulge in a group of decorative pillows made from the coolest fabrics curated from across the globe.
This Spring uses various interpretations of animal prints with a mix of fresh textures like Mongolian lamb.
