With the end of 2012 just hours away, we wanted to just give you a glimpse of the essentials to any New Year’s bash. Starting with the most important; booze. Champagne is of course the obvious choice, but try it with a twist! We suggest the classic “Champagne Cocktail” from the Metropolitan Hotel here in NYC.
This little number was created in 1935 and has a few simple ingredients: 1 cube sugar, Angostura bitters, and your favorite chilled Champagne. Soak the sugar with a couple of good splashes of Angostura bitters and place in the bottom of a large champagne flute. Fill slowly with champagne and garnish with a lemon. Done!
With drinks out of the way, no party would be complete without something to savor. One of our favorite bakeries is just around the corner from DH Headquarters, Make My Cake, here in Harlem. Any number of their delicious cakes or cupcakes is a guaranteed party pleaser! We recommend the red velvet, vanilla with strawberry and cream cheese, or the double chocolate, yum!
And what NYE party would be complete without dressing the part of host or hostess! One of our absolute favorite accessory pieces, especially for such an occasion would be the classic bow tie. Bow ties are such a fun accessory that really elevates a look and look great on men or women. Our favorite go-to designer for a true DOPE bow tie is Zeno and Marie.
